After almost folding through lack of support the Clare Valley Regional Aerodrome Development Group has garnered enthusiasm and drive through a team of dedicated local residents and businesses.
Suitable land has now been found for the aerodrome, with a choice of two locations, one on the Clare to Spalding Road on the corner of Anama Lane.
The group is awaiting a native vegetation report and a further survey of the land by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
The Blyth Community Management Committee is also keen to have the air strip in their township and is likely to present a report to the committee on their proposal.
The committee is now looking for public pledges of support and hopes to encourage local people and businesses who may receive a direct or indirect benefit from the air strip to get involved.
And support doesn’t have to be financial, as the group is also keen to attract in-kind help with trucks to cart rubble, machinery use and labour to help construct the all- weather strip.
